The National Statistics Board published the Mid-Term Review of its 2021-2026 Strategy, Quality Information for All – Numbers Matter. This review evaluates progress made by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and the Irish Statistical System (ISS) in achieving the eight priorities and ten actions outlined in the NSB strategy. The review highlights the significant advances made by the CSO and the ISS in delivering the NSB’s strategic priorities and actions. Some of the greatest progress has been seen in fostering trust and transparency while expanding statistical insights and improving data standards, skills, and services across the civil and public services through data stewardship. Challenges remain in advancing statistics in key policy areas, while opportunities in big data and further public sector data integration exist. The NSB commends the CSO for its significant achievements in enhancing Ireland’s statistical capabilities and for its commitment to providing trusted, independent, and innovative insights that underpin evidence-based decision-making.
